An empty bowl. A powerful reminder.

For too many of our neighbors, an empty bowl is more than a symbol. It represents the uncertainty of not knowing when or where the next meal will come from.

Across Arizona, 1 in 5 children experiences food insecurity, meaning they may not have reliable access to enough food to grow and thrive.

On Tuesday, October 13, Chandler-Gilbert Community College will bring our community together for the 13th annual Empty Bowls event to raise awareness of hunger and inspire action.

With a $15 donation, you can select a beautiful, handcrafted ceramic bowl—each one a unique work of art—and share a simple meal of soup, bread and water. The experience is an opportunity to reflect on what an empty bowl means for people who do not always have enough to eat.

Then, take your bowl home as a lasting reminder that hunger exists in our community—and that each of us can help.

Your $15 donation also provides 36 meals through the food bank at AZCEND, helping neighbors experiencing hunger find nutritious food, practical support and hope for a brighter future.

Be sure to visit the silent auction, featuring one-of-a-kind pieces created by the highly-talented advanced ceramics students at Chandler-Gilbert Community College.
